My name is Liz Hamstra and I'm an abstract painter living in Fishers, Indiana.
. I graduated from the Herron School of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and went on teaching for ten years at the Indianapolis Art Center. Throughout my artistic journey I enjoy experimenting with a variety of mediums and techniques. I strive to create a distinctive sense of movement with a vivid array of colors forming unexpected compositions. I explore the give and take of symmetry, asymmetry, bold shapes, repeating patterns while the use of embroidery thread sewn into the canvas just adds a little extra spice to the geometric plane. My work extends off the canvas to non traditional surfaces including electric guitars, violins and large scale murals.
